I think my husband and I found a ride on toys that’s toddlers best for two-year-olds. This toy was easy to put together, and my son took it right away. I never thought I would be a parent buying these toys for my son, but here we are, letting him ride out.

We did get the truck for his second birthday, and since he is such a great kid, we decided to get this for him. In this post, I will be doing a product review of the Kid Trax Real Rigs Toddler Fire Truck Interactive Ride On Toy. Like I do with all my other product reviews, I’ll go over the specs, what you need to put together, and my overall product review.

The Arrival of the Truck

It was initially supposed to come within a week and arrived about two weeks after the initial delivery date when ordering this truck. It bothered my husband and me because the truck was supposed to be here on my son’s birthday, but it came a week later. So If you are going to order it, I would shoot for at least two weeks in advance of when you need it.

Putting the Truck Together

Since this required a little bit more putting together than I usually do, my husband put the truck together. It comes with the tools needed, but my husband had additional tools that he feels more comfortable with to put the truck together. If you watch the video, you will see how excited my son was about the truck, and he was really involved in the process.

The basics of what comes with the truck:

  • Body of truck
  • Stickers
  • Battery
  • Toy Dog
  • Wheels
  • Nails & Screws

It took less than 30 minutes to put the tuck together and for my son to get on it and try it out. It’s pretty easy to follow with the instructions that come with it because of the picture instructions for the truck. Everything is easy to find, all of the major parts are big enough to see, and it would be easy for anyone to put together.

Why this Ride On Toys Toddlers Best For His Age

After putting the toy together, my son immediately took to the truck. He got on it, and at first, he wasn’t sure how to use it, which is understandable. He was so excited to get on it that my husband and I had to cut it on for our son initially (now he knows how to use it).

The great thing about this truck is that it talks, blinks, and lights up, which is vital for their sensory development. The truck is interactive and asks the rider to do things like “fill up the water tank,” let’s go put out some fires,” and if you put the toy dog (dalmatian) that is included, the dog will bark and is included in the commands that are given by the truck.

Things I Don’t Understand but Make sense

My husband and I got the truck knowing that it didn’t reverse, and at first, we thought it would be a good idea to limit his ability to reverse. Then he started driving it, and we realized that it’s a high possibility that your child will break the truck.

We got the truck in the wintertime since our son’s birth is, and living in the Northeast means brutal winters and lots of snow. We couldn’t take it out in the winter or early spring, so our son had to ride it in the house. While it gives him lots of practice, it’s not like having it outside where he doesn’t have to reverse and turn around without backing up.

Once the weather gets warmer, I will update how it does outside. Based on the reviews, it does well in grass and on the sidewalk, but I will let you know since that can vary based on where you live.

Performance

The truck does a great job indoors. Everything is very loud, the flashing of the lights is very vibrant, and you can hear everything the truck is saying clearly. Also, you can hear when the truck is blinking and talking, which is good because that will let you know if something is wrong or not working correctly.

The truck performs well on carpet and on the kitchen floors which are wooden so there isn’t a problem with traction indoors. The weight requirements are true as well. I won’t recommend putting a child over 40 pounds as it’s too heavy. The truck’s body holds up well as my son crashes it into a lot of the furniture in the home. Thus far, we haven’t had any issues with any of the pieces of the truck falling apart or falling off.

Final Thoughts and Recommendation

This is an excellent toy for new toddlers. It definitely requires them to use all of their fine more and sensory skills to work the truck, so if that is something you think your child needs, this truck is an excellent tool for that. The truck’s body allows you to feel really secure with your child in it that even if they crash, for the most part, they will not be injured.

My son has been using the truck for some time now, and he has figured out how to pull the truck back into a driving position once he cannot go forward anymore.

The initial charge is 18 hours, and from there, you charge it every 12 hours, but honestly, we have only charged it once since we got it, and it’s been working for weeks at a time. The truck doesn’t go that fast, so you can catch up with your child should you need to cut the truck off, and the charge on the truck lasts for a while since our son doesn’t use the truck every day.

I think usage will play a role in the battery life, but for now, it’s providing our son with what he needs for the amount of time he plays with the truck, which is a few minutes per day.
