In the last couple of months, I’ve started back reading books. I’ve never been a big reader.

I realized I needed more direct self-help. I knew getting a book would be the best way to learn something new.

Sometimes the Youtube videos and Google searches don’t help. You have to take it old school.

For 2021, I told myself that as I enter the year of 35, I would be more intentional about what I am doing and leaning into my WHY!

Getting married and having a child is a great way to tap into my why. However, I wanted to hone in on why I am doing things for myself, focusing on the new year.

For me to read a book, only a trusted person can recommend it to me. It has to be something that I have seen many of my “mentors from afar” read or people in my industry read as well.

One of my goals for 2021 includes growing the blog into a six-figure platform and doing that. I needed to scale strategically.

I spoke with the blogging queens and kings. Below are the best books to learn how to scale any business for online and offline success.

  1. The Power of Focus: How to Hit Your Business, Personal and Financial Targets with Absolute Confidence and Certainty
  2. How to Talk So People Will Listen
  3. Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business

What I love about The Power of Focus is that it teaches you how to focus on your goals, steps to take to achieve them, and then develop a plan to put them into action.

How to Talk So People Will Listen is the favorite out of all three. It teaches you to improve your communication skills to sell yourself to others, get others to buy from you, and build your authority. I have sticky notes from this book because it speaks so much to me.

Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business is the reality check needed to realize that I needed to treat it like a business if I wanted to go into business.

The mindset is much different than the perspective I had when I started my event planning business. The book forces you to analyze if you can go into business and what it takes.

I have a few more books that I have to read, but these are the three that I have gotten through by year-end.

If you have read them before, let me know your thoughts and your favorite takeaway from each book.
